Lavender sorrel (Oxalis barrelieri) is a species in the Oxalidaceae, shrub with erect stems, cylindrical or linear angled, slender, green, 20-150 cm tall, leaves with three strands, flowers bright red with a greenish or yellow base.
O. barrelieri has leaves with three strands at the end of a long stalk, two opposite and one at the tip. The strands are oval or round or elongated, green and hairy, blunt ends, margins thickened and dark in color, a large vein in the center with many pinnate small veins.
The flowers are star-shaped with five cones, large aisles, bright red or bluish-white and the center is bright yellow. The fruit is capsule-shaped, elongated with sharp corners and bright green.
Lavender sorrel grows solitary in forests, farmlands, river-side roads and lots of sun or little shade.
