Ranggitan or bayam pasir (Cyathula prostrata) is a species of plant in the Amaranthaceae, herbaceous, erect stems grow, about 10-40 cm high, tubular, red and green in color, white hair and trident branching.
C. prostrata has oppositely seated leaves, ovate or elongated, green or red in color, a white-haired surface, a main middle vein and many pinnate minor veins.
The inflorescences are in panicles and lined on long stalks at the upper end of the stem, erect and white or green with red tips. Ranggitan is often in shaded areas on forest floors, plantation areas and along roadsides.
This plant is used as a cough medicine, dysentery, itching due to caterpillars, intestinal worms, shingles and cholera. C. prostrata can also be consumed and used as an ingredient in making soap.
