The inflorescences have a strong aroma, the flower stalks are erect and then dangle when anthesis, has a sheath, the top is bulging, yellowish green or white and sheds when ripe.
Didi grows to form colonies on forest floors, slopes, agricultural land, roadsides and abandoned lands in the shade.
