Melati gambir or star jasmine (Jasminum multiflorum) is a species of plant in the Oleaceae, shrub, erect or slightly creeping, up to 2 meters high, stems cylindrical, woody, branched, green or brown in color and white hair.
J. multiflorum has leaves with short petioles, about 5 mm long and sitting opposite. The leaves are oval to oblong, pointed tip, rounded base, flat edge, pinnate veins, 5-10 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, green and white hair.
Compound inflorescences, growing in leaf axils, limited to 3 flowers or a dense bunch with many flowers. Flowers are single or in pairs, the crown is sheet and white.
The fruit is round, shiny, black when ripe and surrounded by petals. Taproot, strong, segmented and enlarged.
